TWO HOSPITALIZED AFTER CONSUMING EXPIRED POWDERED MILK FROM KUMASI CITY MALL

Two persons have allegedly been rushed to the hospital after consuming an expired powdered milk from the Kumasi City Mall in Ashanti region.

The two victims (name withheld) are sons of a medical doctor with the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Dr. Ernest Opoku.

The Doctor made this allegation on a News platform, "My Ghana Today" where thepressradio.com had a copy.

Dr. Ernest in his allegation said he bought a box of peak powdered milk from the "Game" section of the shopping mall but forgot to check on the production and expiry date when his two sons unfortunately got attacked by severe enteritis after consuming some of the milk.

"I bought a box of peak powdered milk from the Mall on Wednesday 7th March 2018. My two boys who took some the next day were both admitted for severe entities", he narrated.

He indicated that he later checked on the box and realized it was three months expired.

"I checked the box and realized it had expired since November last year", Dr. Ernest added.

According to him, he returned the box to where he bought the product only to be embarrassed by the authorities of the facility who refused to accept it back because he had misplaced the receipt.

He said though he was recognized by the shop attendant who sold the item to him, the authorities refused to believe in him as they said they don't even trust their staff and was therefore driven away with the expired box of powdered milk.

He has therefore sent a word of caution to the general public to be vigilant when buying from the Kumasi Shopping Mall.

Meanwhile, the Marketing Manager at the Kumasi City Mall, John Badu Bonsu admitted to the issue and said the management of the facility is planning to meet the complainant over it.

"We have heard about it, we called the Dr. and we have scheduled a meeting with him to resolve the issue".

He said it is true such case has been recorded at the Game and blamed the management at the "Game" for it.

"We will make sure we deal with the staff who was in charge and the entire management of the "Game" to prevent future occurrences.
